5k Q&A

Why a Vineyard 5K?

The Grove City Vineyard has supported missions for many years. One thing that has always been near to our heart and we feel the Lord is calling us to is providing fresh water wells. Many people die from unclean water. Many women and girls are attacked, injured or killed, just trying to supply their families with basic water needs. So each year we have the Vineyard 5K to continue to raise awareness and to support fresh water wells. Each well is drilled fresh or retooled for the local village. A village may be a as small as 200 people or as large as 5000 people.

How much of the registration fee goes to fresh water wells?

100% of the proceeds go directly to the work of providing fresh water wells! The Vineyard does not keep or use any of this money for any other purpose. No overhead costs...just wells!

what happens when i register?

When you register and pay your fee, you are ready to run or walk in the 5K. You will receive a Vineyard shirt, while supplies last. You can register at the Vineyard during church office hours, Tuesday through Friday or register online. If you register online, you will receive your shirt the day of the race.

What about a timing chip?

We are not offering a timing chip. With all the runners having such great watches that tell you every detail, we believe the money we would spend for a timing device was better spent giving someone a fresh drink of water. We'll see you runners and walkers at the starting line!

will there be an awards ceremony?

No ceremony, but the first three male and the first three female participants to cross the finish line will receive a $25 gift card!

can i bring my kids?

Your kids are welcome to participate with you, we would love to have them! We start the race with the runners out first followed by the walkers and families. Children 11 and under are welcome to participate with you at no cost (shirt purchased seperately). Kids ages 12 and older will be the same fee as an adult. All shirts are in adult sizes. So bring the kids, strollers...whatever it takes to get out there and have a great day supporting a great cause. Children are always welcome but we will not be providing any childcare during this event.

what happens on race day?

The race will start at 9 a.m. sharp! If you are waiting to register on race day, visit the registration table by 8:40 a.m. You do run the risk of not getting a shirt if you wait until then to register. We will close our parking lot by 8:55 a.m. to revent cars from interfering with the start of the race. The race will start and end in the parking lot of the Vineyard. The Grove City Police will be on hand to help with any traffic issues. There will be plenty of bottled water and snacks at the finish line for you.

what about the weather?

The race will be held rain or shine. No matter the weather, we will be here enjoying the day.

what if i pay for the race and then can't make it?

We will miss you...truly, we want everyone to enjoy the day with us. This is such a great community event and it supports such a great cause that we want everyone to be able to participate. If you are unable to come the day of the race, we will not be able to refund your registration fee. We are very sorry about that but this is a race for a non-profit charity. If you have your t-shirt, keep it! If you didn't pick up your shirt, it will be donated to someone who can use it.
